Following Saturday’s stormy weather, this week will also bring falling temperatures, local rain in the north, and on Wednesday the system will reach its peak with a real risk of flooding along the coast and the lowlands. Watch the flood footage.
After yesterday’s rain and thunderstorms on Saturday, the weather continues to change and winter is showing clear signs. Today, Sunday, is expected to be clear to partly cloudy, but during the morning there may still be local rain in the north.
The temperatures will drop significantly and return to normal for the season. From noon onward, residents of the coastal plain will feel strong winds that will continue through the afternoon and evening hours.
At night the system will remain active. In the northern coastal plain there may be local rain accompanied by isolated thunderstorms, while in the rest of the country the weather will remain clear to partly cloudy.
In the coming days the winter system will gradually strengthen.
On Monday it is expected to be partly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the northern coastal plain.
On Tuesday the cloud cover will increase. Local rain will continue along the coast, and by midday rain may reach the central highlands as well. Temperatures will remain unchanged.
The peak will arrive on Wednesday. During the afternoon hours intermittent rain will begin in the north and center, accompanied by isolated thunderstorms. In many areas along the central and southern coastline, as well as the lowlands, there is a real risk of flooding. There will be a slight additional drop in temperature which will make the day feel especially wintry.
