Growing competition on the New York route. Transportation Minister Miri Regev announced today (July 16) that Israir has received a license to fly to New York and will be the third Israeli airline to operate the route, following El-Al and Arkia Airlines.
PassportNews has learned that the company plans to operate a daily flight, likely starting from April-June 2026, but no sooner.
Internal discussions at Israir regarding the route’s operation, which carries high costs and requires the company to operate one or more leased aircraft, lasted for several months, culminating in the decision to open the route.
Transportation Minister Regev stated: “An important step to strengthen competition, reduce prices, improve service, and expand the options available to the public. I thank Israir for taking up the challenge and joining me in this game-changing move, the CEO of the Ministry of Transportation, and the Head of the Civil Aviation Authority for their successful work.”
